Dawn of Trust

Garett pushed down on the gas and took off, the wheels of the bus spun a little. Garett ran over a crowd of zombies, then took off on the road. He turned back to the others. "Hows Kurt doin?"

Kurt was still clutching his hand, and spoke to Garrett with a grimacee.
"Juuuuuuussssstttt Dandy, Garrett!!!JUST DANDY!!!"

Beside the sudden move of the bus, Asi just sat down on a bench and nodded, while opening his shotgun and putting two shells from his pocket into the barrels.

Kip petted Ankh and sent him tosit beside Ed.

"I think we should do something about that hand of his,oh and thanks Garret" Kip said pocketing the cigarettes and slipping on a new shirt.

Asi turned his head to Kip."Like i said: Cut it off." he said."It's just a hand, i have seen people operating complex harvesting machines with only their little finger." He put his hand up and wiggled his pinky.

"calm down Kurt, look at me,look straight at me" he held Kurts head by the temple's and stared him down "it only hurts because you think its supposed to hurt, calm down, ive heard about this, its a bio-germ created to counteract the virus, it went wrong also, it creates genetic mutations in people, you've apparently been infected" he sighed "calm down, you can control it if you try hard enough, learn to use it correctly and it could be a boon rather than a bane"

Garett sighed. "Just fuckin great, another person whos infected..." Garett looked onto the road..."Well in other news...Were headed to Nevada..."

"Why?"

Kris had been going through her bag to set up a mini lab area. She took out a microscope she 'borrowed' from the hospital, and a needle to get some blood from Kurt. She went over to him with the needle.

"Hold still."

She cleaned an area off on his arm, and drew some blood. After that, she got a slide and cover slip, puts a drop of blood on, then placed it under the slide. She compared Kurt's blood with her own she got a while ago. 'Mutated' vs normal. She also threw the zombie blood under the microscope to compare too.

"Well I can tell you this, it's not the virus and it's not normal. So I think Micheal is onto something about that other infection. However it doesn't seem to harm the blood cells, so I think you'll be ok."

She puts away her lab area back into their packs and sat down on the bench with her notes to write more stuff down.

"Why...well why not...It's got a nice big city I wanna visit....Las Vegas..." Garett took a hit of his blunt. "I figure it's one of two things, a hold out for the military....or an infected hell hole...Feel free to get off if you're scared..."

Kris rolled her eyes as she kept writing.

"Well Vegas it tis. I'm already getting tired of Utah anyways."

"I feel ya there Kris, That's why I left..." Garett pulled a map from his pocket. "Well...Some one wanna get up here and be my guide?"

Kris stopped writing on her notebook as she finished her notes. She puts the notebook away and looked around the bus. The others seemed to have found themselves occupied with something and she had nothing else to do. Kris sighed and made her way to the passenger seat, grabbing the map out of Garett's hand. She read threw it once then looked up.

"Withing the next two miles, make a left onto the highway."

"Gotchya...' Garett looked off into the road for about 30 seconds before he started to talk again. "You got somethin on your mind kid?"

Kris looked up thoughtfully, which is sometimes what she does when considering or thinking about her answer in an unrushed situation.

"Nope. I got nothing."

"I don't know, ya seem kinda pissed and worn out...Ya sure you're okay kid?" Garett let a grin come to his face.

"I'm fine."

She looked down at the little clock on the radio. It has been over two hours since Garett's last injection.

"You said earlier your hand still hurts? Can you still drive while I put more of that stuff in you? or does someone have to take over?"

"I'm fine, just go ahead and inject me." Garett looked back to the road, his expression changed, he looked angry...

Kris went back to her bag and got out the injection. She was about to put the needle in his bitten hand when she saw his exprecion turned angry.

"What's wrong?"

Jim followed them on his motorcycle.

"It's kinda weird...when ya know your gonna die in less than 24 hours...." Garett paused for a moment, his expression changed to nothing. He sat there blankly...."I mean....It's not like their is anything left for me...But still, It's weird...I'm gonna die..."

Kurt began to breathe deeply, in and out. The sparking and sizzling died down. Kurt thought for a minute.
"So, am I a walking Biohazard?Or a mutant like Wolverine, Storm,Cyclops, or any of the other X-Men?"
Kurt looked at the vial of his blood and then at his hand. He closed his eyes and relaxed. The sparks came back, but Kurt felt no pain.

Kris pursed her lips, then cleaned off a part of Garett's hand before injecting the medicine. She didn't want to think about Garett dying. She is hoping that the medicine will help slow everything down so that she could get more time to figure out the cure.

"I'm hoping you're not going to die. I'm working as hard as I can to not let that happen."

After a moment she went back to her bag to put away the stuff then back to her seat.

"Ok you turn is up there."

Garett followed her directions and made the turn. "You never answered my question...Why do you care about me dying...The only reason I really see is that I can kill them monsters well...But other than that, ya got all these guys to keep ya company...So why do I matter?"

Jim kept following them.
